Essential Oils for Winter Gifts (and Pampering)!
Essential Oils for Winter Gifts
In the Pacific Northwest, winter has us all reaching for great hydrating oils, crèmes, lotions, and balms to keep our skin, feet, and hair feeling and looking their best. Many of us are using diffusers to freshen our homes and banish that ‘stale’ feeling when windows and doors shut tight against the elements. So naturally, I think about how Essential Oils can enhance our long, dark days of winter.
For you and your business, adding different Essential Oil blends to your best-selling products is a simple way to create a seasonal line that might spark new sales by extending your product offering.
Winter Gift and Pampering Ideas
What I do before scenting our bases for my personal use is to diffuse the blends I create to fill the room with scent. This lets me know if I love it, like or, well, need to start again.
For instance with the holidays right around the corner, my mind is spinning with ideas for scented gifts. I like to create an ambient room spray with our Body and Linen Spray. Our Perfume Balm is a lovely start to a beautiful, solid perfume. Essential Oils most commonly associated with the holiday season are of course Frankincense and Myrrh, or the ‘minty’ oils such as Peppermint and Spearmint. The ‘spicy’ oils to include in your seasonal creations are Clove, Cinnamon, and Allspice along with the ‘coniferous’ scents of Fir, Pine, Cypress, and Cedarwood. I created a fun blend with Cedarwood and Lavender that you can get already blended into Castile, Hemp, Jojoba and a number of other bases.
I like to experiment with new combinations when I think of winter aromas. Rosemary, Cypress, Peppermint, and Frankincense are lovely and definite favorites, but they aren’t going to be as unique as something like say, a Ginger and Cardamom Sugar Body Scrub, or a Lemongrass, Basil and Geranium Body Balm. So here are some suggestions for scenting some of my favorite winter rescue products:
My Winter Survival Rituals
Body and Bath Oil: After getting into a cold car and blasting the heat to create a warm little moving box for my commute home I find that all I can think about is going home for a relaxing bath to warm up. I like to treat myself with an oil bath and our Bath and Body Oil is my go-to. During the winter months, I start missing the warm sunshine and find that scenting my oil bath with a blend including citrus oils satisfies that longing for the sun.
Bergamot and Clary Sage blended fill the sunshine void for me as well. Grapefruit blended with Ginger, and a splash of Lavender is another favorite, as is Grapefruit and Cypress. When I simply can’t wait to do it myself, our Citrus Burst Blend is an easy way to satisfy my longing for the sunshine, no blending required!
Indulgent Face & Body Balm: This lovely balm helps skin stay hydrated and looking its best, and is loaded with Essential Oils. While it’s great as is, I do think a hint of black pepper would be a nice little pop of brightness.
Butter Body Scrub: When blending Essential Oils into yummy Body Butter or Butter Scrub, you will want to use a stick blender to disperse the scent evenly into the scrub. Please do not melt the butter to do so. I have scented this with a combination of Frankincense and Myrrh with Cedarwood and Sweet Orange for a lovely Holiday scent medley.
Virgin Coconut Sugar Scrub: When working with this sugar scrub you will want to soften- not melt, the base using a warm water bath. Once it softens, you can incorporate your EO blend of choice. Essential Oils of Orange, Ginger, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg included at low concentrations make a beautiful Holiday scent for this scrub. Boost this blend with a touch of Vanilla Co2 to enhance the scent of this gorgeous EOs.
Calendula Butter Crème: One of our Account Managers is in LOVE with this Butter Creme, and if you’ve used it, you’ll know why she uses it to keep her skin so soft and supple. With an underlying floral scent from the Rose Distillate, you can blend just about anything to create a lovely fragrance. Bergamot and most other Citrus Oils work well. A hint of Geranium is a unique addition here as well.
Cocoa Butter Lotion: I call it ‘a scent for all seasons’ when adding Lavender to a Cocoa butter product, and our lotion is no exception. To enhance the lotion’s scent even more try the addition of Sweet Orange along with a splash of Ylang Ylang.
Essential Certified Lotion: One of my most enjoyable things to do is to scent lotions or crèmes with just one oil and during the winter months I find that Neroli is my first choice. It is bright and sunny and gives me such an uplifted feeling- perfect during the dark winter days and cold nights. The second choice is Rose Absolute with its spicy, and sweet aroma is almost much like a blend all on its own.
Enjoy the winter months and the holidays with family and friends and let us know your favorite Winter EO Blends and Rituals.
