Q: What does it mean to be Leaping Bunny Certified? What does ‘cruelty-free’ even mean?

A:  Leaping Bunny Certification is the gold standard for cruelty-free personal care products and is without a doubt, the most trusted and consistent cruelty-free certification available in the USA. Even though animal testing is now banned almost everywhere for cosmetics and their ingredients, some ingredients used in cosmetics are also used in other types of products. Some ingredients that are used in products other than just cosmetics may still be tested or could still be tested for other purposes like environmental toxicity. Therefore, it is important that companies apply to be Leaping Bunny certified, which will let consumers know that the company’s products or ingredients are not tested on animals regardless of international regulatory requirements.

Q: Why did Essential choose to become a Leaping Bunny certified facility?

A: Consumers of natural and organic skincare care about the environment as well as what they put on and in their bodies. Essential has never tested on animals, and by gaining certification from the CCIC, our customers can add the Leaping Bunny logo to their Essential- provided products, gaining a competitive edge in the marketplace.

Q: Will you be adding the Leaping Bunny logo, and Cruelty-Free statement to all your product labels? A: Yes. As we create new labels and materials, the Leaping Bunny logo we will be added. In the meantime, if you see one of our products that doesn’t have the Leaping Bunny logo, rest assured, all of our products are Leaping Bunny certified.

 Q:  Can I now put the Leaping Bunny logo on my product? Can I say Cruelty-Free?

A: All skincare products and ingredients you purchase from Essential’s website are eligible for the Leaping Bunny logo and the use of the words “cruelty-free,” which is a trademarked term, provided you are not adding your own ingredients to the product once you receive it from us. You can also apply for the right to use the logo on the Leaping Bunny website. Once you apply, a confirmation request is sent to us, which we complete and send back to Leaping Bunny. Please send us an email at info@ewlnatural.com as soon as you apply to let us know to expect an email from Leaping Bunny.

Q: What if you are making a custom formula for me? Is my product automatically qualified as Leaping Bunny certified?

A: Provided the product is made with Essential- supplied ingredients you can apply with Leaping Bunny for permission to use the logo on their label just as you would if you were buying stock products. If you provide any of the ingredients and want to apply for Leaping Bunny certification, you will need to provide us with non-animal testing statements from your ingredient supplier. Based on the documentation you provide, we’ll be able to determine if your product is eligible for Leaping Bunny certification.

Q: How do I register my product with Leaping Bunny so I can be listed on their app and their website as a cruelty-free brand?

A: You will register at http://www.leapingbunny.org/company/register.

Q: Why is Essential no longer accepting returns?

A: In order to remain FDA-compliant, Essential cannot fulfill an order with products that have previously shipped to another location.

Returned products are also a safety concern, as we have no way of knowing whether or not the returned product was altered after leaving our facility. Any items that are returned to Essential will be discarded.

Q: Can you Recommend Packaging for Products with Essential Oils?

A: Rather then using expensive glass jars, packaging made with polyethylene terephthalate, or PET is a great option. PET is an inexpensive, light weight (and curb-side recyclable) alternative and is what we use here at Essential. PET is an Essential Oil-resistant packaging that does not “sweat” or “leech” the Essential Oils. It is sensitive to high temperatures, though, and may deform when using melt and pours.  We always advise to purchase a sample of any packaging to test. Q: Can I Get my Label on your Skincare Sample Sets?

A: Absolutely!  Our private label team will help you. Send us your labels and packaging, and place a minimum quantity order of just 5 gallons of each product. We can also send the product in bulk , along with a template for creating your own label to cover ours so your customers see your brand on the back bar.

 

 

Q: Why can’t I see my product review on your website?

A: Great question! Thank you for taking the time to review our products and for choosing Essential Wholesale & Labs.

If your review is not visible on our website, it is likely that it includes a drug claim that the product ‘cures’ ‘heals’ ‘repairs’ etc. While many natural and organic skin care companies do list claims, Essential strictly follows all current FDA guidelines on labeling cosmetics– both for our products and on our website. We do not make any claims that directly associate our product with a cure to a particular health condition. FDA guidelines apply to all sections of our website, including comments and reviews. If your comment or review includes a drug claim, we will remove it.

Q. Can I sell Essential’s products in my salon?

A.  Absolutely! You can purchase our products and sell them under your own name and brand identity. You might want a skin care line, such as our Paramount Facial Line for mature skin. Or for your body care and massage business, the amazing Coffee Salt Body Scrub, is perfect for selling in your retail space. Add Essential Oils or package as is. You can also ask us to create something completely new just for you.

Q. Can I buy samples to give to my customers?

A. Absolutely! We can manufacture foil packets, such as a 15ml sample (or larger or smaller), or we can fill small jars and pots for you. It really depends on the experience you want your customer to have. We can add your brand and labels to these samples, too. We can also create your product in bulk and send to a specialty filling house, for instance, one that focuses exclusively on eco-friendly packaging. Minimum order requirements vary based on product and packaging selected.

Q. Do I need a business license to buy from Essential?

A. Not at all!  You can buy anything you like on our website, or through our private label team, without showing us a business license. For our Pro Pumpkin Masque, we do ask for a copy of your aesthetician’s license because of the higher Alpha Hydroxy content.

Q. Are your fragrance oils natural?

A. Yes. Our Natural Fragrances are created exclusively for us by a leading international perfume house. We offer Pear, Lingonberry, USDA Certified Organic Blueberry, and Mango. You can read more about these fragrances on our blog. They smell wonderful and are terrific for providing scents we can’t get from Essential Oils.

Q. Have you changed your formulas? There are new ingredients listed in many products.

A. Great question!  We work very hard to be as transparent and truthful as we can be about the ingredients in our products. Recently we’ve been updating our ingredient lists on the website and you may, for example, now see the addition of Soybean Oil on products that include Vitamin E. Vitamin E requires a carrier oil and our conventional Vitamin E uses Soy Bean Oil.  Our Non-GMO Vitamin E uses Sunflower Oil. You may also see the addition of Organic Alcohol (derived from Sugar Cane). It is used in the process of creating tinctures. “Stearic acid” is composed of Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, and Myristic Acid. Rest assured, we have not changed our formulas.
